viernes surreal

And then we crashed her mother's party ... yeah because she had to pick her up from there, and there you have us, in some sort of bohemian light hearted reunion where the average age of the attendants ranges somewhere between 39 and 65, jumping directly from Smells like teen spirit (the last song we heard play by the group who provided the live music at the paradise) to a guy playing tangos with his violin. Kinda surreal but actually fun ... ;) we even got to see a couple dancing a stiff but well intentioned tango, while I explained my friend the letters of Uno and Por una cabeza ... she never thought that this romantic song Al Pacino danced in Scent of a woman would talk about a guy losing his money at the horses ... well that's tango, tragedy has many faces.
And after the tango time, things got better when salsa came in ... well I do want to learn tango but still haven't found a teacher, and the guy who danced was actually one. Truth to be told, I didn't find him as good as I expected, but then Lore's mother sent me to the dance stage with this guy and we did a very good role with salsa ... actually we kinda rocked. The thing is, being a ballroom teacher, he knows better salsa than tango. And after all these dancers' parties I attended previously, well I must've learnt something, right? People were actually watching us all the time and I even got to hear "looks like they've danced together before, isn't it?". And my answer is, well dance is a language itself, and if your partner knows how to lead right, and you have some idea on how to follow, it'll look like you've rehearsed it before ... risking myself to sound presumptuous, there was an old gentleman who said to me "congratulations for the dance!" when he shook my hand saying goodbye, and I was very happy with that comment.
